Dear Valued Customers,
Several months ago, Sara, Tony, and I took a few steps back from the day to day demands of operating Cyberia and tried to do what we have been so
successful doing in the past. We put ourselves in your shoes and looked
into the future to see what your changing needs were and how we could best
meet and exceed those expectations.
The immediate needs seemed to be lower prices, updated Internet software
tools, and local access from northern York County and other parts of south
central Pennsylvania. We are very excited about strides we have made in
the last few months in order to meet these needs. Although everyone would
always like even lower prices, our new prices have been very well received. The new CD is proving to be a hit with its easy setup, more friendly user interface, and additional tools. Our new connections in the Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Hershey, Steelton, and Middletown areas allow us to offer local access to nearly 100% of York County and extends our reach north into these heavily populated areas.
Meeting these immediate needs has been very rewarding for everyone at
Cyberia, but we must also recognize the long-range needs that are becoming
obvious. They include:
- Longer technical support hours, 24x7 if possible
- More coverage areas
- Spam Filtering - the ability to globally and personally block spam from reaching your email
- Content Filtering - filtering capabilities that provide the option to block sites relating to pornography, violence, drug use, criminal activity, and other objectionable information before it gets to your computer.
These needs are important for all of our customers, including our business
customers, but our corporate clients have some different needs of their own that are growing and changing:
- Direct Network Connections - Businesses are increasingly looking for corporate wide access to the Internet for the entire business via a single dedicated connection. This allows them to offer access to everyone in the company without the costs of extra phone lines and modems for every PC in the office.
- Professional Web Sites - The Internet keeps changing, and our corporate customers are constantly enhancing their Web sites to offer extra value added services to their customers.
- eCommerce - More and more businesses are starting to sell products via their Web site, and are looking for our professional Web design team to help.
- Application Development / Database Programming - Making Web sites interactive for businesses and providing real-time services and solutions.
- Online Advertising - Many companies are starting to understand the power of online advertising and are looking for our help.
Great, so what does this all mean for you, our customers?
Fair question. We want to meet and exceed all of these needs for you. In
fact we believe that we have to. We believe we have done a good job on our own trying to meet current expectations, but the current list of needs which must be met are too great for us to handle on own. When Sara, Tony,
and I stepped back to look at the big picture, we decided we needed to find a larger partner who was currently meeting the majority of these needs for their clients. A partner who could afford to make the large capital investments needed to take our customers to the next level. We decided on D&E Supernet.
When we looked at the different companies who are offering similar services in our area, we decided that D&E Supernet was more like Cyberia than any others. Their focus on customer service and technical support is strong with longer hours (not 24/7 yet, but they are heading in that direction), they currently offer spam and content filtering services, and their coverage area covers all of Susquehanna Valley including Adams, Cumberland, Fulton, Franklin, Lancaster, and Berks Counties. We believe that their long-range goals are in tune with our vision of the industry and that they have the financial backing and desire to move to the next level.
So what are the specifics and how will it affect my Internet service and me?
Another fair question. The specifics are that we have agreed to sell
Cyberia to D&E Supernet. Cyberia's team will remain on board and actively
help facilitate the integration of our customers from Cyberia's systems to
D&E Supernet's systems. We understand that this type of change may cause
feelings of anxiety. We promise to keep you informed about what is
happening each step along the way and we promise to work very hard to
ensure that this goes as smooth as possible and that your email addresses
and current services are not interrupted. Like any transition, there are
bound to be some unforeseen slip-ups along the way, and we ask for your
help by reporting any problems you find and we ask for your patience as we
resolve these issues.
After the conversion has been made, we will be leading a team which
consists of Cyberia's current staff and D&E Supernet's current Web site
design team to create a new division which will be focused on Business
Services - meeting the needs listed above for business clients.
Everyone at Cyberia is very excited about the new opportunities that this
deal presents for both our residential and business customers. We look
forward to continuing to meet and exceed your changing needs for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Adam J. Viener
